GETTING AROUND

We're easy to find and everything's close at hand

Town Centre

Ellon town centre is compact. It's on a slight incline, which gets steeper as you approach the riverside footpaths. You can get around easily on foot.

Once in the centre, the only road you need to cross to reach most of the shops and cafes is Bridge St., a which features a pedestrian light controlled crossing.

Access and Parking

Those who are less mobile should be aware of the slope from the river up into the town centre. There is a car park and level access to the public toilets down at the riverside and plenty of parking on the same level as the town centre.

Paid parking is very cheap at 2 hours for £1, but there are also free car parks and on-street parking is free. Just make sure you follow the rules - illegal parking will cost you the same as it does everywhere else.

Buses & Taxis

Stagecoach buses serve both the town centre and the Park & Ride, connecting Ellon and its settlements with local towns, Aberdeen and the North East coast.

There are several taxi and minibus companies in the area which, between them, cover most times of day. You might get lucky and find a taxi in one of the bays on Bridge St. or in front of The New Inn on Market St.

Terion Taxis (01358 720556) have premises on Market St by the New Inn, Central Taxis and Millbank Coaches (01358 800800) have a new home on Bridge St. and Ellon Taxis (01358 725888) can be found at the Business Centre on Hospital Rd. There are also several long-established, reputable companies operating from home. Type "Ellon Taxis" in your search bar for a full list.

Getting To Ellon

Aberdeenshire is a big place with not so many cars so the traffic flows well once you are outside the city. A visitor to the shire who wants to get the most from their stay with limited time is advised to use a car.

Getting around by bus means Stagecoach. Public transport sometimes gets a bad rap, but it's really worthwhile if you want to enjoy views of the coast, the villages and the rolling farmland and woods without watching the road.

If you arrive in Aberdeen by train or plane, you definitely have options. The Aberdeen (Dyce) airport car hire companies are here and the railway station and city offers a subset of these. It's a similar story at Inverness Airport.

Arriving by ferry, you have similar car hire options and bus connections. You'll find the specifics at Northlink Ferries.
